Youth Collecting Emergency Kits for Church World Service
Given the recent events in Haiti, there is an overwhelming need for Emergency Kits. The Church World Service, one of the organizations supported by the PC(USA), has put out a call to all churches to help. This is a way that you can provide assistance in something more tangible than just a check.
Because kits must be the same, please follow exactly the instructions presented here. The contents of each kit have been selected with care based on years of experience to make them as useful as possible.
We will collect these kits until the end of March and ship them at that time. Watch for boxes in Fellowship Hall to collect these items. Thank you in advance for helping us support those in need!
Hygiene Kit:
- One hand towel measuring approximately 16" x 28" (no fingertip or bath towels)
- One washcloth
- One wide-tooth comb
- One nail clipper
- One bar of soap (bath size in wrapper)
- One toothbrush (in original packaging)
- Six standard size Band-aids®
- Place all items in a one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure, remove excess air from bag, and seal. Please do not add toothpaste to the Hygiene Kit. Cartons of toothpaste that have an extended expiration date will be added to Hygiene Kit shipments just prior to shipment.

- Two T-shirts or undershirts (no onesies)
- Two washcloths

Corn Maze in October 2009
Thanks to all who joined the Youth and their families at the Skinner's place in Corrales October 25th. We had some beautiful fall weather to walk to the Wagner Farms Corn Maze and get lost in the maze of corn rows, ride the hayrides, find some great looking pumpkins, and then enjoy some great pizza socializing back at their house.
Thanks to all the Skinner's for hosting and can't wait to do it again next year!
Our 2009 Graduates
Big congrats to our group of the Senior High and College graduates this last May! We are SO proud of you and wish you the best of luck ahead!
Our Youth Takes on Ghost Ranch Retreat in Northern New Mexico!
Five of our LPPC youth members spent the first weekend in March this
year at the Santa Fe Presbytery Annual Senior High Retreat at Ghost
Ranch. Our kids met young people from all over northern New
Mexico, sharing in study, worship, outdoor adventure and faith building.
Then they came back and lead the worship service on Sunday to teach us
all what they had learned. What a performance!
Thank you to everyone who helped donate to send our fantastic youth on this trip!
Recycle and help the Youth
LPPC continues its green efforts to help protect our environment by
recycling CELL PHONES and INK JET CARTRIDGES. All proceeds go to our
youth group for church-sponsored events and activities—thanks to Phone
raiser, an innovative fund-raising recycler.
Please place your used cell phones and ink jet cartridges in the box located in the Fellowship Hall. Contact Vicki D. through the church office at 867-5718 with any questions or go to the Phone raiser website.
