Building Committee

Mission/Description: The Building Committee monitors and plans current and future building maintenance needs. Aids in resolving immediate repair needs. Organizes volunteers to perform maintenance and repairs that can be done by members of the congregation. Identifies and enlists professionals to perform tasks that can’t be handled by volunteers.

Activities and Accomplishments: Specific tasks can include a wide variety of things from changing a light bulb to the installation of a new roof. The biggest task completed in 2024 was the installation of the new membrane roof on the “Education/Office Wing”. Other accomplishments include “discovering” we had a “whole church” water filter that was clogged and subsequently replaced, repairing the vacuum cleaner, and locating and updating maintenance manuals and instructions for building equipment. The BC Chair is currently working on creating a new Building Maintenance manual for the church.

Future Tasks: The BC is working with others to address installation of crash bars on doors to meet Fire Marshall requirements and improving exterior lighting to improve safety. The BC will also evaluate the best ways to repair the stucco on the church exterior.

Committee Members: Don Turton currently chairs, but there are no committee members. Volunteers are urgently needed.
