coMFORT & JOY PRAYER SHAWL CIRCLE OF lppc

c & j PRAYER SHAWL CIRCLE

Since 2007, an informal group of knitters and crocheters has been producing hand-made shawls, lap robes, afghans, and similar items to give to LPPC members and friends and the community to comfort them in times of grief, illness, loneliness or other stress or to celebrate the joys of new life and new horizons.

The crafters are mostly self-funded and work independently on projects of their own choosing. They gather bi-monthly to bring in completed projects, share information on current needs, technical tips, patterns, to pray for the gift recipients and bless all completed and in-progress projects. Items have been donated to the "Linus Project" for children in need and to Church World Services for emergency relief supplies. Basic knitting instruction is available for interested individuals.

The response to this little ministry has exceeded all expectations to the point that C & J continues to give out an average of one item per week. To keep pace with this demand, additional knitters, crocheters and weavers are always welcome and donations of hand made shawls, yarn and cash for supplies are greatly appreciated. Requests for shawls may be made through the pastor or LPPC deacons.
