Grounds Committee

Mission/Description: Grounds Committee maintains the Memorial Garden and all other grounds surrounding the church. Plans groundskeeping activities and identifies maintenance needs. Members perform some tasks and enlist the help of volunteers from the congregation and schedule cleanup days. Perform simple repairs and/or enlists the help of paid professionals when needed.


Activities and Accomplishments:


Specific grounds maintenance tasks include:

  • Clearing leaves and debris from walkways and stairs.
  • Clearing walkways of snow and ice.
  • Controlling weeds using environmentally safe methods.
  • Maintaining existing established vegetation, incl. pruning.
  • Marinating hardscapes.
  • Establishing new plantings.
  • Insuring drip irrigation system is working.
  • Manual supplemental watering of trees and large shrubs.
  • Clearing of acequia ditches.
  • Other basic gardening and landscaping tasks.

Some specific accomplishments for 2023-24 include:

  • Organized three church group cleanups from 2023 to 2024.
  • Repaired the drip irrigation system.
  • Planted 100 spring flowering bulbs (mostly in the Memorial Garden).
  • Performed weeding and general landscape maintenance.
