Mission/Description: As the Personnel Committee, we work to provide the resources and tools our pastor and staff members need to thrive in the church’s work environment. This committee is responsible for overseeing the hiring and support of the church’s pastor and paid staff. We currently have four paid employees: Tom Ulrich, Bridge Pastor; Karen Cox, Church Administrator; Elliot Smith, Music Director; and Mindy Sampson, Pianist. Our responsibilities also include conducting performance reviews for the paid staff and pastor. This task has been a pleasure since our pastor and paid staff have served us well and faithfully—a truly exceptional team.
Activities and Accomplishments:
- Work to provide the resources and tools that the pastor and staff members need to effectively function and thrive in their work environment;
- Prepare employee contracts and present them to Session for approval;
- Conduct employee performance reviews (every two years);
- Serve on Investigation Team in the case of Sexual Misconduct of church employee or member (as specified in LPPC’s Sexual Misconduct Policy);
- Serve as liaison between church staff and Session: 1) Bring concerns and needs of employees to Session for consideration (such as time off, work responsibilities, compensation, etc.); 2) Bring to the Session’s attention exceptional work by our employees and recommend bonuses and raises when possible; 3) Gather concerns or commendations from the Session and congregation regarding our paid employees
- Oversee the sexual misconduct training required for all paid staff, Session, and Deacons, as well as for any church members who wish to volunteer to take the self-directed training (In cooperation with the Health and Safety Committee and the Pastor)
- Serve on Investigation Team in the event of any type of misconduct by an employee, consultant, church member or church visitor (as specified in LPPC’s Sexual Misconduct Policy);
- Serve on Investigation Team in the event of a complaint by an employee, consultant, church member or church visitor as being the target of any type of misconduct (as specified in LPPC’s Sexual Misconduct Policy)
