Mission/Description: The Stewardship Committee is responsible for planning and conducting the annual pledge drive,
traditionally held in the fall, and subsequent pledge drives as authorized by the Session. This includes direct communication with congregation by presentations at church services and meetings, as well as letters and emails. This is an essential role in the life of the church, and we are proud to say that our financial needs have been consistently met by our generous and faithful church family.
Activities and Accomplishments:
- Schedule, plan, and conduct annual pledge drive which included direct communication with the congregation by presentations at church services and meetings, as well as letters and emails.
- Create a theme for the Stewardship campaign and some kind of visual representation to emphasize the campaign.
- Plan and prepare the “Minute for Stewardship” presentations. These are usually carried out for four consecutive Sundays in late October through early November. (Note: we did it earlier in October in 2024 because the Pastor Search Committee needed the financial data).
- Prepare and distribute pledge cards and Time and Talent Sheets (a survey in which members check the activities or committees to which they would be willing to lend their time and talents).
- Work closely with the church’s Financial Secretary to track member contributions throughout the year and mail notification of each member’s contributions at the end of each year for tax purposes. (Note: the contributions of individual members are available only to the member, the Financial Secretary, the Chair of the Stewardship Committee, and the Pastor.)
